What is a Life Coach?ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought- provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment.
What happens during a session?They can range from 20min to 60min. Most sessions are set up with an agreement (opportunity, issue or goal). We explore options and ideas together through thought provoking questions. We will end on an action that provokes growth. If you are here for grief, you decide the goal of the session. Some people come to find a moment of peace, or release, or explore a new future that stills honors the loss.
Do I need a therapist or a coach?Let’s create a spectrum of 1 to 10, 1 being sick (needing diagnosing and a treatment plan, therapy is needed) 5 being healthy (not sick, coaching should be considered) no longer need for medical diagnoses and 10 is thriving and prospering life. Coaches are not licensed to practice or diagnose mental health. We are more focused on skill development, healthy coping and forward moving. There is some overlap let’s say 3 to 7. Most human beings are experiencing some common things like seasonal depression, anxiety, grief, relationship conflict. Who can benefit from both therapy and coaching.
What can a coach help me with?Our job is to help create a more beautiful life. So, we co-create with you from where you are right now to where you want to go. A coach can assist in creating new habits, setting boundaries, grief, self-awareness, and so much more.
